Set Work Area to Selected Layers in After Effects

In this post, I will show you how to quickly set your work area to selected layers in Adobe After Effects.

Step 1: Select all of your layers by pressing CTRL+LEFT CLICK on a PC or OPT+LEFT CLICK on a Mac

Step 2: Press CTRL+ALT+B on a PC or CMD+OPT+B on a Mac.

Select Layers in Adobe After Effects

Step 3: Right-click on the selected layers and choose Trim Comp to Work Area.

Now you’re good to go!

There is one thing I need to mention. If you move your time indicator to the very beginning of our timeline, you will notice that the time does not start at zero as it should.

We will need to reset the time to zero by pressing CTRL+K on a PC or CMD+K on a Mac. This keyboard shortcut will bring up the Composition Settings.

Next, find Start Timecode and change it to zero. That simple!

I hope you found this tip useful!
