In this post, we will talk about the Scale Composition Script in After Effects. So without any further ado, let’s dive right in!
Alright, so here we are in After Effects and let’s say I want to scale the size of my composition. I’m going to hit CTRL+K on a PC or CMD+K on a Mac to bring up the composition settings.
What if I want to go from 1920 to 4k like this?
I’m going hit okay. Now you can see that the composition size has increased but everything else hasn’t.
That can be a bit problematic. What if let’s say you had a lot of animations and different effects. It can be annoying trying to adjust to that size. So what’s the easiest way to do this instead of scaling everything one by one and all that stuff? Let me show you.
I’m going to undo everything with the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Z on a PC or CMD+Z on a Mac.
Next, instead of doing what I did before, I’m going to go to File and then Scripts and then I’ll click on this Scale Composition Script.jsx.
By the way, Scale Composition.jsx is built-in in After Effects so everyone should have it.
Next, you will see a pop-up window.
You can either scale by a factor, width or height.
So right now I’m going to do width. I’m going to go from 1920 to 4k.
When hits scale, you will see that it has scaled to the size of my composition. Now let’s hit CTRL+K on a PC or CMD+K on a Mac to see the composition settings.
As you can see, we are at 4k and everything else has adjusted to that size.
