After Effects properties can sometimes clutter our monitors. It can be frustrating having all of our properties open all at once. Especially, when working on smaller laptop screens. Let me show you a better way to hide After Effects properties with a simple keyboard shortcut called Hide Properties. I use this shortcut every day.
It is very similar to the Solo Properties keyboard shortcut. In the Solo Properties example, we individually selected all the properties we wanted to keep in our timeline with a keyboard shortcut CTRL+LEFT-CLICK on a PC/CMD+LEFT-CLICK on a Mac.
Then we hit S twice on our keyboard and it isolated all of our selected properties for us.
The Hide Properties Keyboard Shortcut does the exact opposite. It hides our properties instead of just isolating them.
Applying Hide Properties Keyboard Shortcut
To hide properties in After Effects, we fist need to hold ALT+SHIFT on a PC /OPTION+SHIFT on a Mac. Then LEFT-CLICK on any of the properties we do not want to see in the timeline. That simple! However, let’s take it a step further.
Hiding Property Groups
We can also hide the whole group of properties in After Effects. To do that, hold ALT+SHIFT on a PC /OPTION+SHIFT on a Mac. Then LEFT-CLICK on any of the groups you do not want to see. It will disappear with just one click.
