Centering objects in After Effects manually can be complicated. Especially when working with multiple layers. In this post, I will show you how to center in view objects with a simple keyboard shortcut quickly. So let’s dive right in!
For this example, as always, I have a simple setup. I have a vector logo and the background.
As you can see, my logo is not centered. So how do I take this logo and center it in view? In other words, how do I take this logo and put it in the exact center of my composition?
Center in View One Object
I guess you can do it manually. You can kind of grab the logo and try to place it in the exact center of our composition.
That can work, but it is not a perfect solution. It has one too many steps. There is a much easier and faster way to do it with a simple keyboard shortcut. All you have to do is select the logo layer and press CTRL+HOME on a PC/COMMAND+HOME on a MAC, and this keyboard shortcut will snap the object to the exact center of your composition.
Center in View Multiple Objects
And by the way, this keyboard shortcut also works for multiple layers. Simply select all the layers you want to center in your After Effects composition, then press CTRL+HOME on a PC/COMMAND+HOME on a MAC, and it will snap all of your objects0 right to the center of your composition.
