A little over a month ago I was asked to create the starting lineup animation of Kansas City Royals and New York Mets for the MLB World Series 2015. The graphics itself isn’t anything spectacular, but I thought I’d share it in case any of you saw it while watching the World Series on FOX. Personally, I’m very new to baseball and I knew very little about the game prior to creating the lineups. I tried watching baseball in the past and it always felt boring to me. I changed my mind when my boss took the time to educate me on the rules and the traditions of the sport. Understanding the game definitely helped me to finally enjoy it!
Everything happened very quickly. At around noon I was asked to create a quick mock up design still of what it might look like. The lineups had to look somewhat similar to the current MLB on FOX graphics package. I was able to save a lot of time by using some of the existing elements from the current package. You can check out the graphics package at this link: https://www.behance.net/gallery/20873759/2014-WORLD-SERIES. An hour or so later the mock up still was ready to go through the approval process. It took few tries to get it approved and immediately I moved forward to collecting all the players names, info, and green screen footage to place into the design. Next step was simple animation to get it all wrapped up. It was a long, but fun day. I hope you enjoy it!
